One Year Later, Affordable Care Act Already Improving Coverage and Lowering Costs for Millions of Americans

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sept. 23, 2011) — Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) issued the following statement in response to the first anniversary of Patient's Bill of Rights in the Affordable Care Act.
"Today marks the first anniversary of the Patients' Bill of Rights -- consumer protections that are already working to provide health security for children, young adults, people with disabilities and seniors.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 21, 2011) — Today Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) issued the following response to President Obama's speech to the United Nations General Assembly.
"Today, President Barack Obama clearly restated the U.S. commitment to negotiated peace and the protection of human rights. In his remarks to the General Assembly of the United Nations, the President emphasized the importance not just of peace, but of human dignity and economic opportunity.
WASHINGTON DC (September 19, 2011) — Today, Reps. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) and Dan Burton (R-Ind.) along with a bipartisan group of 56 members of the House introduced H.R. 2966, the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act of 2011. The legislation is supported by hundreds of national and state animal rights organizations, including the Humane Society, the Animal Welfare Institute, and the ASPCA.
