SCHAKOWSKY STATEMENT ON TERRORIST ATTACKS IN MUMBAI | ||
Washington, D.C.--U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), a member of the House Intelligence Committee, released the following statement today in response to the deadly terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India. |
CHICAGO – Today, Representative Jan Schakowsky released the following statement on Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day:
“Today, we remember the lives lost to the horror of the Holocaust. Nearly six million Jewish people, including over one million children were senselessly executed in a horrific act of genocide. After World War II, my district became home for the largest population of Holocaust survivors second only to Israel. Today, there are an estimated 2,000 survivors living in the Chicago area. My district is home to the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, which ensures that the lessons of the Holocaust are never forgotten.
