INTRODUCES BILL IN RESPONSE TO REPORT ON RECALLED CHILDREN
CHICAGO, IL -- U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky, ranking member on the Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection, today announced new legislation to better protect children from dangerous products. WASHINGTON, DC -- - A bi-partisan coalition of members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation today sent a letter to FAA Administrator Marion Blakey demanding answers on a plan to displace approximately 100 workers from the FAA's Great Lakes Regional Office in Des Plaines. The letter was signed by U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Barack Obama, and U.S. Representatives Jan Schakowsky, Mark Kirk, and Melissa Bean.

WANTS TO ENSURE A CAR'S FULL HISTORY IS AVAILABLE TO CONSUMERS

Title washing occurs when fraudsters erase the history of an automobile from its title before reselling it on the market.

SCHAKOWSKY STATEMENT ON DELEGATION TRIP TO AFRICA
WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky released the following remarks upon her return from a senior bipartisan delegation trip to five African nations. The highlights of Schakowsky's week-long trip to Africa were a visit to Darfur, meeting with the new woman President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and the discussion in South Africa with President Mbeki.

SCHAKOWSKY TO JOIN OFFICIAL DELEGATION TO AFRICA
WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky will join House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and other Members of Congress on an official Congressional delegation trip to Africa, leaving tonight and returning on Feb. 24. The delegation will travel to Sudan, Cape Verde, Ghana, Liberia, and South Africa. The delegation will assess the situation on the ground in Darfur, and discuss security, economic, health, and hunger issues with regional leaders across the continent.
