JOB CREATION
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) issued "The Bush Administration Misstatement of the Day" on job creation.

SCHAKOWSKY APPLAUDS CONGRESSIONAL ACTION
TO END GENOCIDE IN SUDAN
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) applauded Congressional action calling for an end to the Genocide in Sudan. Both the House and Senate passed resolutions that would designate the growing humanitarian crisis in Sudan as genocide. The House-passed bill calls on the Bush Administration to undertake steps to implement multi-lateral and, if necessary, unilateral action to stop the loss of innocent lives in Sudan.

SCHAKOWSKY OPPOSES SO-CALLED MARRIAGE PROTECTION ACT
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Mr. Speaker, I rise today in opposition to H.R. 3313, the so-called Marriage Protection Act. This bill would expressly forbid the federal courts, including the Supreme Court, from hearing cases on a Constitutional matter. That not only sounds absurd to me, but I'm sure it confuses American Government students across the country who are learning everyday about our system of checks and balances and the role of the courts in our country.
