SCHAKOWSKY ADDRESSES HUNDREDS OF SENIORS DURING HEALTH FAIR

CHICAGO, IL - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) today addressed hundreds of seniors and community advocates in Chicago during State Representative Harry Osterman's annual Senior Citizen's Health Fair. The fair was held in Schakowsky's Congressional District in the Broadway Armory.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In an open letter to President Bush that was published in today's edition of the Chicago Sun-Times, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) writes:

Under your budget, the vast majority of Americans will likely be asked to sacrifice, with one exception: the millionaires who can most afford to give something up. Their tax cuts - the same tax cuts that brought us unprecedented deficits - would be protected and likely even extended under your proposal.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - During a Commerce Committee hearing today hearing on H.R. 29, the Spy Act, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), today said: "Spyware is a serious threat to consumer privacy and potentially a powerful tool for identity theft, a serious crime that is on the rise." Schakowsky, who is the ranking Democrat on the Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection Subcommittee, applauded the bipartisan efforts to move forward this legislation that would protect consumers.

SCHAKOWSKY ANNOUNCES OPPOSITION TO BUSH ADMINISTRATION'S IMPENDING $80 BILLION IN ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR WAR IN IRAQ

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) today announced that she would oppose the Bush Administration's impending request for an additional $80 Billion to continue the war in Iraq. Congress so far has approved more than $200 billion in supplemental, or additional, appropriations sought by the White House for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The bulk of the funding, however, has been for the invasion and occupation of Iraq.
