Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Chief Deputy Whip, led 81 Democratic Members of Congress on two separate letters supporting the rights of their constituents to bargain collectively for good wages and benefits in contract negotiations. These letters, sent to the CEO of American Airlines Group and the President of the Communications Workers of America, come as the two parties are engaged in contract negotiations over passenger service members at American Airlines’ wholly-owned subsidiaries, Envoy and Piedmont.
Today, Rep. Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Chief Deputy Whip and Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection, and Congressman Ben Ray Lujan, member of the Subcommittee, sent a letter to the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, Insurance, and Data Security regarding Uber’s concealment of its 2016 data breach from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as it negotiated a consent agreement with the FTC for an earlier breach.
This week, Rep. Jan Schakowsky met with 4 artists from the Arts of Life Studio, a non-profit in Glenview, Illinois whose mission is to “advance the creative arts community by providing artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities a collective space to expand their practice and strengthen their leadership."
Each of the four artists who met with Rep. Schakowsky will have a piece of art hung up in the Congresswoman’s Glenview office for the next year. After the meeting, Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement:

Today, I join in remembering and honoring the 6 million Jewish lives lost in the Holocaust. As a Jewish American and the representative of the 9thCongressional district of Illinois, one of the largest concentration of Holocaust survivors in the country, I personally feel the importance of this day.
