WASHINGTON – Consumer advocates and stakeholders agree that H.R. 3950, the Transparency in Charges for Key Events Ticketing (TICKET) Act, will restore fairness and transparency to the ticketing marketplace. The bill, which passed on the House floor last month by a vote 388-24, will significantly enhance the customer experience of buying event tickets online.
WASHINGTON - Consumer advocates and stakeholders agree H.R. 3950, the Transparency In Charges for Key Events Ticketing (TICKET) Act will restore fairness and transparency to the ticketing marketplace. The bill, which advanced out of the Energy and Commerce Committee last week with a unanimous vote, sends a clear message that Congress needs to act quickly to enact this important legislation, which will significantly enhance the customer experience of buying event tickets online.
My political career began as a consumer advocate when I led the successful campaign in 1969 to put freshness dates on products sold in the supermarket. I am a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, where I serve as the Chairwoman of the Consumer Protection subcommittee. On the Committee, I have continued my efforts to protect consumers from unfair business practices, unsafe products, insurance abuses, and harmful chemicals in products, and to improve the safety of children's products, vehicles, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
Legislation I've Introduced
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Chair of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, cheered the passage of seven bills out of the full Energy and Commerce Committee which had moved through her subcommittee. The legislative bills deal with artificial intelligence, senior and pandemic scams, and consumer product safety.
Today I chaired on hearing on the Federal Trade Commission. We were joined by all 5 Commissioners as we discussed legislative proposals to modernize and improve the FTC and strengthen its ability to protect consumers from fraud and make them whole after being victimized.
WASHINGTON - Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Chair of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, held a hearing entitled "Mainstreaming Extremism: Social Media's Role in Radicalizing America." WASHINGTON — Today, Committee Chair Rodgers and Ranking Member Pallone, and, Subcommittee Chair Bilirakis and Subcommittee Ranking Member Schakowsky made the following statement on the passage of H.R. 3950, the “Transparency In Charges for Key Events Ticketing Act” or “TICKET Act” out of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce by a vote of 45-0:
