WASHINGTON - Consumer advocates and stakeholders agree H.R. 3950, the Transparency In Charges for Key Events Ticketing (TICKET) Act will restore fairness and transparency to the ticketing marketplace. The bill, which advanced out of the Energy and Commerce Committee last week with a unanimous vote, sends a clear message that Congress needs to act quickly to enact this important legislation, which will significantly enhance the customer experience of buying event tickets online.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), a Chief Deputy Whip and Ranking Member of the Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, released the following statement after voting against final passage of H.R. 2670, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024: 

“Today, I once again voted against the passage of the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This bill authorizes a staggering $886 billion in new spending for the Department of Defense. Our greatest security threats have no military solutions, and it is time our budget reflected that.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) and U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) introduced new bicameral legislation to provide American consumers with clear information about the nutritional content of foods and beverages. The Transparency, Readability, Understandability, Truth, and Helpfulness (TRUTH) in Labeling Act would direct the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to develop new front-of-package labels for foods and beverages sold in the United States.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) reintroduced the Affordable Drug Manufacturing Act, bicameral legislation to address the skyrocketing price of prescription drugs and increase competition in the generic pharmaceutical market by establishing an Office of Drug Manufacturing within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) tasked with manufacturing select generic drugs and offering them to consumers at a fair price that guarantees affordable patient access.
