WASHINGTON - As millions of Americans prepare to file their taxes ahead of the federal deadline on April 15, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) today introduced legislation to ensure that large corporations are finally required to pay their fair share. The Corporate Tax Dodging Prevention Act would stop corporations from sheltering profits in tax havens like the Cayman Islands and Luxembourg, eliminate tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas, and close loopholes in the tax code that allow corporations to get away with paying little to nothing in taxes.

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Representatives Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Mark Pocan (WI-02), Jim McGovern (MA-02) and 37 of their colleagues sent a letter to President Biden and Secretary of State Blinken asking them to withhold pending offensive weapons transfers to Israel after seven humanitarian aid workers from World Central Kitchen, including one American, were killed in an Israeli airstrike, and to place conditions on future weapons assistance.

United States youth plaintiffs. The lawmakers asked the Court to allow the plaintiffs’ historic climate lawsuit to proceed to trial.

WASHINGTON - As Humanitarian Crisis Mounts in Gaza, six senior House Democrats –  Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), Congressman Jim McGovern (MA-02), Congresswoman Sara Jacobs (CA-51), Congresswoman Barbara Lee (CA-12), and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (ME-01) sent a letter urging President Biden to make clear that continued efforts by the Israeli government to restrict humanitarian aid to Gaza will require the United States to enforce Section 620I of the Foreign Assistance Act and restrict additional U.S. security assistance to Israel. The letter comes as Secretary of State Antony Blinken prepares to certify whether Israel has made credible and reliable written commitments to use U.S. weapons according to United States and international law.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) and U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) reintroduced the Protecting American Consumers from Robocalls Act, a bill that would help end the plague of illegal robocalls in America.  The legislation would give the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Do-Not-Call Registry teeth by providing all telephone subscribers, including small businesses, the ability to seek damages for all unconsented-to telemarketing calls immediately after such a call.

U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), a Chief Deputy Whip and Ranking Member of the Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, introduced the Agricultural Food Chemical Reassessment Act, which requires the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to reassess seven chemicals used in meat, dairy, and egg products.
