Today, Representative Jan Schakowsky released the following statement on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision:
“Over forty years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a decisive ruling of 7-2 in favor of women’s health and reproductive rights. This seminal Roe v. Wade ruling brought abortions out of the shadows and gave women control over their bodies, their health and their own economic opportunity. This decision didn’t mark the start of abortions, but it did mark the end of women dying from them.
