"Our nation is grieving today.

"I join the friends and families of the brave police officers killed in Dallas in mourning their loss. I am praying for the recovery of those who were wounded at what was designed to be a peaceful protest until snipers – filled with hate, not the determination to win justice – turned it into a tragedy.

A rally called “National Day of Action on Gun Violence Prevention” was hosted today by Representatives Jan Schakowsky, Robin Kelly, Bill Foster, Danny Davis, Mike Quigley and Steny Hoyer. Similar rallies were held across the country today to continue conveying the urgency for gun reform initiated on the House floor last week.

The Congressional members veered their cause for common sense gun legislation from the House Chamber to the home front by holding the rally in Chicago’s Federal Plaza.

Today, after urging from the lawmakers, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and IKEA announced a recall of Malm dressers, stopping the sale of Malm dressers until safety improvements are made, and offering a refund for consumers who have purchased Malm dressers
