Today, Representative Jan Schakowsky issued the following statement in response to the passing of Muhammad Ali:
“In my time serving the 9th District of Illinois, I have been fortunate enough to meet Nobel laureates, Presidents, celebrities, Senators, religious leaders, and a host of other famous people. I keep pictures in my office of my personal favorites. My picture with Muhammad Ali sits on the wall directly to the left of my desk, right where I can see it.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), released the following statement after the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee announced that funding for the next phase of the Des Plaines River Project would be included in the Water Resources Development Act. This inclusion will allow for almost $200 million in federal funding for Phase II of the project. This project was also included in the Senate version of the bill.
