BUDGET PRIORITIES
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) issued "The Bush Administration Misstatement of the Day" on budget priorities.
The Washington Post reported today that "The White House put government agencies on notice this month that if President Bush is reelected, his budget for 2006 may include spending cuts for virtually all agencies in charge of domestic programs, including education, homeland security and others that the president backed in this campaign year."

DES PLAINES, IL - Joining Des Plaines Mayor Tony Arredia, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) today toured locations throughout the city where rising river waters are threatening homes, businesses and public buildings. The Des Plaines River is expected to crest on Thursday night at more than 11feet, which is 6.3 feet above flood stage.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) today said that while she is "pleased that the NCAA is working toward reform on issues surrounding recruiting trips and the academic performance of student-athletes," she is, however, "concerned that some of the new proposals do not go far enough" to end the culture that tolerates violence against women and to curb recruiting violations.
