ASSAULT ON CONSUMERS IN REPUBLICAN-CONTROLLED HOUSE
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) voted against H.R. 4600, the latest assault on consumers in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives.
"Instead of addressing medical malpractice or medical malpractice insurers, this bill is a plain and simple assault on the rights of consumers - health care patients and their families who have already been injured once would be injured again and again because of this bill," Schakowsky said.
SCHAKOWSKY CALLS ESTABLISHMENT OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN OFFICE A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) today called the establishment of violence against women office in the Department of Justice as a step in the right direction.
"Violence against women is one of the most serious problems in this country today, and we need to have strong laws, adequate resources, and effective enforcement efforts in order to combat it. I believe the establishment of this office is a step in that direction," Schakowsky said.

"BY SOLELY CONCENTRATING OUR EFFORTS ON IRAQ, IT IS GETTING HARDER TO CONVINCE THE WORLD THAT THIS IS JUST ABOUT WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION, NOT DOMESTIC POLITICS OR OIL OR REVENGE."
