WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) today inserted the following statement in the Congressional Record in celebration of Greek Independence Day.

A fundamental consideration is strangely missing from David Broder's Sunday, March 14 column praising a proposal by Medicare Commission members Senator John Breaux and Representative Bill Thomas: the detrimental effect that plan would have on the millions of seniors and persons with disabilities who rely on Medicare.

Report links aggressive driving to urban sprawl

(Chicago) Aggressive driving may be less a product of an angry mind and
more a result of an unhealthy transportation system.

A study by the Surface Transportation Policy Project (STPP) found that
places with more aggressive driving deaths are usually newer, sprawling
communities where the car is the only way to get around.
