WASHINGTON- Today, on the 34th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) reintroduced the Eleanor Smith Inclusive Home Design Act. This legislation would make new homes more accessible for those living with disabilities, including many of our seniors and veterans.

The Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Commerce of the Committee on Energy and Commerce held a virtual, fully remote hearing on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 12 p.m. This was a virtual, fully remote hearing rather than a hybrid hearing. The hearing is entitled, "Investing in American Jobs: Legislation to Strengthen Manufacturing and Competitiveness."

Today, Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone Jr. (D-NJ) and Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection Subcommittee Ranking Member Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) sent a letter to the leaders of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee opposing the nomination of Ms. Dana Baiocco to serve on the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Sens. John Thune (R-SD) and Bill Nelson (D-FL), Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, will hold a hearing on Ms. Baiocco’s nomination tomorrow.
