WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Energy and Commerce Committee's Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee, introduced the Stop Tip-Overs of Unstable, Risky Dressers on Youth Act of 2021. Tipping furniture presents a serious risk of injury and death to children. Furniture or items on top of furniture such as TVs can fall onto a child, causing the child to be crushed, trapped, or struck by falling objects. U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) is introducing the Senate version of the bill.

The Energy Consumer Protection Act is being introduced in the Senate by U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) and U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA).

The Energy Consumer Protection Act of 2023 would provide the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) with additional authority to go after traders that repeatedly manipulate electricity and natural gas markets. This legislation addresses the shortcomings of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which, along with overly broad court rulings on it, have failed to hold online platforms accountable to consumers.
