Energy & Environment
WASHINGTON— Representatives Jan Schakowsky (IL-9), Paul Tonko (NY-20), Daniel T.
As a member of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, I strongly believe in protecting and promoting animal welfare. That is why I have supported numerous legislative efforts to protect animals from abusive environments. The humane treatment of animals also extends to wildlife. Deforestation, habitat destruction, and industrial development threaten vulnerable ecosystems. I strongly oppose the Trump administration's efforts to rollback vital provisions of the Endangered Species Act—which helped save our country's national symbols like the bald eagle from extinction.
During debate on the House floor of the INVEST In America Act, I discussed the auto safety provisions in the bill, which I ushered through my subcommittee. The bill also includes funding to help remove dangerous lead service lines in our water system. Illinois has nearly 680,000 lead service lines. #INVESTAct#InvestinAmerica#WaterisLife#CleanWater#AutoSafety#HotCars
