The legislation helps Americans deal with high prices, sides with the hard-working middle class, protects women’s rights, and reinforces America’s global leadership.

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) joined a majority of her colleagues in the House of Representatives to pass legislation that invests in both American and global priorities. The Omnibus Appropriations bill, which includes key funding for projects in the 9th Congressional District of Illinois, was approved on March 9, 2022. The bill now awaits consideration by the U.S. Senate before heading to the President's desk.

WASHINGTON —  U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky, Chair of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus Providers and Clinics Task Force, and U.S. Senator Cory Booker were joined by U.S. Representatives Barbara Lee, Diana DeGette, Ayanna Pressley, Norma Torres, and Marilyn Strickland in reintroducing their legislation, the Abortion is Health Care Everywhere Act. In addition to the co-leads, the bill has 142 original cosponsors in the House.

CHICAGO– Representative Jan Schakowsky has joined with Senator Barbara Boxer in re-introducing House and Senate versions of the International Violence Against Women Act (IVAWA) of 2015. This legislation received wide bipartisan support in the 113th Congress, attracting 117 cosponsors in the House and 30 in the Senate. This year, the bill was introduced with 9 Democrats and 9 Republicans.

EVANSTON - Today, U.S. Representatives Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Sean Casten (IL-06), and Jerrold Nadler (NY-12) introduced the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Study (FACES) Act of 2024, legislation to study barriers to enforcement of existing protections for access to reproductive health clinics.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Representatives Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Sean Casten (IL-06), and Jerrold Nadler (NY-12) led 72 House Democrats in a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi demanding the Department of Justice (DOJ) fully enforce the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act and ensure women and health care providers are not threatened, harassed, or abused while trying to enter reproductive health care facilities.
