"This Sunday, billions of people will tune in to celebrate the kickoff of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. As the tournament begins, we must acknowledge the human cost of FIFA and Qatar's pursuit of World Cup glory. FIFA's culture of complacency and the Qatari government's heel-dragging has resulted in thousands of migrant workers suffering from hazardous working conditions, inadequate compensation, inhumane living arrangements and even death.

WASHINGTON- Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Congressman Earl L. "Buddy" Carter (R-GA) celebrated today's passage of their landmark legislation, H.R. 3630, the Lymphedema Treatment Act, which will ensure Medicare Part B coverage of doctor-prescribed compression garments, the clinically recognized treatment for lymphedema. The bill, which was reintroduced in June 2021, is also co-led by Representatives Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Mike Kelly (R-PA).

WASHINGTON - Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) and Congressman Gus Bilirakis (FL-12), Chair and Ranking Member of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, celebrated the House passage of their bill, the Integrity, Notification, and Fairness in Online Retail Marketplaces for Consumers (INFORM Consumers) Act, which directs online marketplaces to verify the identity of high-volume third-party sellers of consumer products. Requiring authentication of the identity of these online sellers will help deter organized retail crime rings who seek to sell stolen or counterfeit goods online.

The law, signed by President Biden in May, bans inclined sleep products and padded crib bumpers, regardless of date of manufacture.

The bill, which she introduced alongside Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01), and Congressman Vern Buchanan (FL-16), passed the House of Representatives last night by an overwhelming 304 to 111 bipartisan vote.
