WASHINGTON—Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky was joined by Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, Chairwoman of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, Sen. Debbie Stabenow, Chairwoman of Senate Finance Subcommittee on Health Care, and Sen. Tina Smith in introducing a package of legislation targeting business practices pharmaceutical companies use to suppress competition, maintain market monopolies, and keep drug prices high.

WASHINGTON. – U.S. Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) and Congressman Brian Mast (FL-18) today introduced a resolution to designate July 20, 2022 as "Glioblastoma Awareness Day." Glioblastoma is the most aggressive, difficult to treat and deadly brain tumor that results in the death of 10,000 Americans every year.

WASHINGTON - Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, reacted to the recent announcement by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards to lower vehicle emissions. These standards implement President Biden's executive order to make America a leader on clean cars and combat the climate crisis.

WASHINGTON - Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, announced that Illinois will receive $156,248,481 from the Department of Energy's Weatherization Assistance Program. About 11% of households in the United States reported keeping their homes at unsafe temperatures to keep costs down. Thanks to President Biden's Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, millions of American households will have the resources they need to be more energy efficient.

EVANSTON - Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip, released the following statement in response to the United States officially recognizing the genocide in Myanmar on the Rohingya, which released its initial report on Monday:

"U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced this week that he has determined that the military in Myanmar committed genocide and crimes against humanity to the Rohingya population in 2016 and 2017. His statement follows what many of us have known for some time: the violence against the Rohingya people in Myanmar is a state sponsored genocide, and the military perpetrators should be prosecuted accordingly.

WASHINGTON - Representatives Jan Schakowsky, David Price, Jamie Raskin, John Yarmuth and Mark Pocan led a letter with an additional 45 Members of Congress in urging the U.S. State Department to engage with the Israeli government to prevent the displacement of 38 families in the Palestinian village of al-Walaja. The proposed demolition of these home would impact about 300 people while further undermining long-term Israeli security, Palestinian dignity, and prospects for peace.

In a damning investigation, USA Today revealed that many recalled products—including the deadly Fisher-Price Rock ‛n Play Sleeper—are frequently found on Facebook Marketplace despite being recalled.
