EVANSTON, IL – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) joined fellow Representatives Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Lloyd Doggett (TX-35), Barbara Lee (CA-13), Lois Frankel (FL-21), Ro Khanna (CA-17), Katie Porter (CA-45), Donna E. Shalala (FL-27), Katherine Clark (MA-05), Peter A. DeFazio (OR-04), Mark Pocan (WI-02), Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-40), and Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) in sending a letter to Vice President Mike Pence demanding details on the administration's plan to develop, manufacture, produce, and distribute a coronavirus vaccine.

WASHINGTON, DC - In response to the Trump Administration's deployment of additional federal law enforcement to Chicago under Operation Legend, Representatives Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) and Chuy García (IL-04) sent a letter to Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Chad Wolf and Attorney General William Barr to ensure that the civil rights of Chicagoans are protected and demanding additional information on the scope of the operation.

EVANSTON, IL – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Senior Chief Deputy Whip, and Congresswoman Lori Trahan (MA-03) introduced the Mentoring to Succeed Act, legislation that increases support for school-based mentoring programs in order to help at-risk youth thrive in their schools, careers, and life. The bill would invest in mentoring programs that help students overcome adversity and trauma and develop the workforce skills employers are seeking. U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth introduced the Senate companion of the legislation.
