WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Energy and Commerce Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee, took bold action to lower health costs, prescription drug prices, and the U.S. uninsured rate by voting to pass the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Enhancement Act.

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Energy and Commerce Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee, slammed Gilead Sciences' decision to price the COVID-19 drug remdesivir at $520 per dose for private pay and $390 per dose for the U.S. government. Remdesivir was shown in clinical trials to reduce the length of hospitalization in patients with severe COVID-19, but did not reduce mortality in COVID-19 patients.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee, and Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García (IL-04) led Illinois delegation members in a letter to President Trump urging him to continue funding COVID-19 testing sites. The administration previously announced it would stop funding coronavirus testing sites in five states including Illinois.

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Representatives Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Ted Deutch (FL-22), David Price (NC-04), and Brad Schneider (IL-10) led 187 of their House Democratic colleagues in a letter to the Israeli government expressing concern over potential efforts to unilaterally annex parts of the West Bank.

The letter, addressed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Alternate Prime Minister and Defense Minister Benny Gantz, and Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, highlights the long-standing bipartisan support for the U.S.-Israel relationship and commitment to a two-state solution achieved through direction negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Commerce Chair Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) announced the inclusion of critical auto safety provisions in H.R. 2, the Moving Forward Act. The provisions will improve auto safety and will help prevent tragic deaths from drunk driving, children being left in hot cars, carbon monoxide poisoning, and unsafe limousines.
