EVANSTON - Today, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) released the following statement in observance of Labor Day:

“As a proud dues-paying member of Workers United, I know firsthand that unions lead to better wages and benefits. Just weeks ago, I marched on the picket line with Amazon drivers in Skokie who have organized with Teamsters. I stand in solidarity with all workers who are demanding a seat at the table. Congress must pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act to ensure that all workers can join a union.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), a Chief Deputy Whip and member of the Congressional Labor Caucus, and Co-Chairs of the Labor Caucus Reps. Debbie Dingell (MI-06), Steven Horsford (NV-04), Donald Norcross (NJ-01), and Mark Pocan (WI-02) led over 120 Democratic Members of Congress in a letter urging Maximus to respect the voices of their employees by pledging not to interfere in any union organizing activities and adopting a neutrality agreement.

Grijalva (AZ-07) led five of their colleagues in a letter to U.S. Secretary State Antony Blinken urging the United States to take action to address human trafficking by member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates).

This legislation would make new homes more accessible for those living with disabilities, including many of our seniors and veterans.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today announced that a total of $1,959,752 they secured through Fiscal Year 2023 Congressionally Directed Spending and Community Project requests will be sent by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to the City of Chicago for lead service line replacement at daycare facilities throughout Chicago.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Representatives Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Hank Johnson (D-GA) and Senator Peter Welch (D-VT) led 17 Members of Congress in sending a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressing concern over the status of the case of murdered Honduran Indigenous rights defender Berta Cáceres. The legislators urged Secretary Blinken to closely monitor the pending appeals and convey the State Department's support for further investigations into Cáceres' murder.
