Today we honor the women who have made an incredible impact on our lives, our mothers. This Mother's Day, I want to call attention to the role women are playing in long-term care. Women are the overwhelming majority of the workers providing long-term support to seniors and people with disabilities. As a result, women are the ones most affected by legislative decisions on long-term care.

On Friday, climate scientists found that carbon dioxide has reached a concentration level unseen in about 3 to 5 million years. "Today I voted against yet another risky proposal the Republicans call the "Full Faith and Credit Act," but is more accurately called the "Pay China First Act." Despite its name, this bill — which has no chance of becoming law — would actually undermine the full faith and credit of the United States. It would create financial chaos for families, businesses and entire communities — continuing the Republican pattern of lurching from one self-inflicted crisis to another.

"The Artistic Discovery Congressional Art Competition is one of my favorite annual events because it allows students from across our community to show their talent and creativity. It also shows the importance of arts education in helping young people realize their potential.
