“On Juneteenth, we celebrate the end of slavery in America and recognize the need to continue the fight for racial equality. It was 160 years ago today that the last group of enslaved Black people in the United States learned they were free. We honor those who fought for freedom, liberty and justice, and those who lost their lives in the pursuit.

These companies, which are Abbvie, Pfizer, Amgen, Merck, and Johnson & Johnson, have taken advantage of tax loopholes created by President Trump’s 2017 tax bill and have lobbied for even more tax giveaways.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) and Congressman Dave Taylor (OH-02) introduced the bipartisan Drug-price Transparency for Consumers Act of 2025, which would require drug companies to include the list price of prescription drugs in all direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertisements. This bill is the identical House version of its Senate companion, which was introduced by Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) in the United State Senate on January 23, 2025.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representatives Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Kevin Mullin (D-CA) and U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) today led 21 members of the Senate and 27 members of the House in calling on Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought to reverse plans to eliminate the bipartisan, independent Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The CPSC is the only government entity tasked with developing and enforcing product safety standards, facilitating recalls of unsafe products, and educating consumers and businesses about product hazards and best practices. The proposal to absorb some of CPSC’s core functions into a nonexistent division within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), as HHS’ budget is being cut, is unrealistic and threatens public safety.
