The Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Commerce of the Committee on Energy and Commerce held a virtual, fully remote hearing on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 12 p.m. This was a virtual, fully remote hearing rather than a hybrid hearing. The hearing is entitled, "Investing in American Jobs: Legislation to Strengthen Manufacturing and Competitiveness."

“The State Department’s Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement significantly underestimates the emissions and climate impacts of the pipeline, mistakenly assuming that without Keystone XL, the Alberta Tar Sands would be produced at the same rate.
Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), released the following statement after the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee announced that funding for the next phase of the Des Plaines River Project would be included in the Water Resources Development Act. This inclusion will allow for almost $200 million in federal funding for Phase II of the project. This project was also included in the Senate version of the bill.
