WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Ranking Member on the Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee, and U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) are introducing the Sunshine in Product Safety Act to bolster the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) ability to communicate essential health and safety information about potentially unsafe products to consumers without risking manufacturer retaliation.

Kathy Castor (FL-14) and Lori Trahan (MA-03) sent a letter calling on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to eliminate the expiration date and strengthen the Standing General Order (SGO).

WASHINGTON - Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), a Chief Deputy Whip and Ranking Member on the Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee, and Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) introduced the Water System Threat Preparedness and Resilience Act, legislation that would provide funding for clean water and wastewater utilities to become members of the Water Information Sharing and Analysis Center (WaterISAC). The WaterISAC is a critical source of information and best practices for water systems to protect against, mitigate, and respond to threats. Today, while roughly 50 percent of larger water utilities have joined WaterISAC, less than one-tenth of one percent of smaller utilities are WaterISAC members. The Water System Threat Preparedness and Resilience Act would help correct this shortcoming by directing the Environmental Protection Agency to create a new grant program that would help cover the dues in WaterISAC.
