Press Releases
CHICAGO – Rep. Jan Schakowsky joined 180 House Democrats in filing an amicus brief in support of the Obama Administration’s appeal in the Fifth Circuit case of Texas v. United States.
CHICAGO – Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement after the announcement of the framework agreement for preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon:
“Today’s announcement of a framework for a comprehensive agreement between the United States, our allies, and Iran that will prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon is a significant diplomatic achievement.

CHICAGO – Rep. Jan Schakowsky joined over three dozen members of Congress writing the House Appropriations Committee to request $25 million for Nonprofit Security Grant Program funding. These funds would aid those who strive to secure Synagogues, Temples and other institutions from hateful attacks. Rep. Schakowsky released the following statement on this issue:
Washington, D.C. – I am a long-time supporter of efforts to prevent harmful Medicare physician cuts by eliminating the inaccurate Sustainable Growth Rate formula. Unfortunately, I could not support H.R. 2 today for three key reasons.
Legislation Would Improve Patient Care and Support America’s Nurses
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Sherrod Brown (D-OH) joined Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) today to introduce the National Nursing Shortage Reform and Patient Advocacy Act, legislation that would establish minimum registered nurse-to-patient ratios in hospitals, protect the rights of nurses to advocate on behalf of their patients and invest in training and retaining nurses to address the nationwide nursing shortage.

There are 16.4 million Americans all across our country who now have affordable, quality health insurance because of Obamacare. Here of four striking examples of how Obamacare is making a huge difference the lives of residents in my Congressional District:
