WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee, today announced her support for the College Athlete's Bill of Rights. This legislative framework will advance justice and opportunity for college athletes, creating a baseline of rights and protections for them, while guaranteeing they have a voice. It would additionally ensure individual states have flexibility to provide greater protections and opportunities for college athletes.

EVANSTON – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, announced the projects in her district for which she has submitted funding requests. Earlier this year, Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro announced that the annual funding process would once again allow Members of Congress to request funding for specific projects.

CHICAGO – Rep. Jan Schakowsky announced the top four winners in the Illinois 9th Congressional District 2016 Artistic Discovery competition. Each year, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nation-wide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each Congressional district. Each young artist who submitted his or her work for the competition was honored at a ceremony at the Skokie Library on April 25, attended by families, friends and teachers. All of their art was on display for two weeks at the library.
