Instead of focusing on the number one issue for most Americans — jobs — House Republicans continue on an increasingly unpopular path of obstruction.

Jan Schakowsky sent a letter to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsackto make sure that USDA is utilizing all possible resources to make bonus and specialty crop purchases of nutritious food such as beans, corn cream, and potatoes to benefit The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and support our nation's food banks.

Ridgewood High School Creates Jobs & Saves Tens of Thousands in Energy Costs

NORRIDGE, IL (December 20, 2011) — Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) visited Ridgewood High School yesterday to talk with students about the importance of civic engagement and tour the soundproofing renovations designed to mitigate the noise from nearby O'Hare International Airport. In addition, the renovations are expected to reduce the school's energy costs by 25%. Schakowsky helped secure the funding for the project.

"I thank you gentlemen for yielding.

Don't blame Congress for not working together. Blame the House Republicans -- who can't even work with each other.

The one and only reason this House of Representatives is not voting for the bi-partisan Senate bill to provide relief to middle class taxpayers, seniors and disabled on Medicare and jobless Americans is because it would pass.
