“Given the coming boom of autonomous vehicles on our nation’s roads, it is important that Republicans and Democrats work together to provide a national framework that recognizes the impacts of this emerging new technology and ensures the safety of all Americans. I thank my friend and colleague Chairman Bob Latta for engaging with me on a bipartisan basis to craft the SELF DRIVE Act, legislation that I hope can be a starting point for transparent improvements in consultation with the Senate. We need to act carefully – working with consumer advocates and industry representatives – and take the time needed to get it right.

“Hezbollah’s attempt to infiltrate Israeli territory with tunnels is a concerning and sobering reminder than Israel’s security cannot be taken for granted. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) deserve praise for detecting these tunnels along the Israeli-Lebanese border and I support their efforts to destroy them. The escalating tensions building up in the region must be addressed seriously and diplomatically to prevent widespread bloodshed. I am praying for peace.”

President Bush was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who always put family first. He was a dedicated public servant and statesman who worked a lifetime for the country he so loved. I send my condolences to the entire Bush family on this day.”

“Jeff Sessions was a disastrous choice to lead our Department of Justice. From the day his nomination was announced, I opposed it. His views on voting rights, criminal justice, and his checkered and racist history made him completely unfit to hold the position of our nation’s top law enforcement official. None of that is relevant today.
