“The Trustees’ reports make it clear that the Republican tax scam directly threatens the Medicare program, reducing its solvency by three years. The tax scam comes at the expense of seniors and American families –taking funding from Medicare in order to give even more tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires.

Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Chief Deputy Whip, released the following statement following the Israeli High Court of Justice approval of the planned demolition of the West Bank village of Khan al-Ahmar for any time the government sees fit this month:

“At any moment in the coming days and weeks, the 180 residents of Khan al-Ahmar could be displaced by the destruction of their entire village, including their school, homes, and house of worship. This cannot be allowed.

"In a narrow 5-4 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court today took basic freedoms away from America’s working men and women, denying them the right to stand together to challenge corporations that deny fair wages and safe workplaces. In Epic Systems v. Lewis, companies argued that they should be allowed to require mandatory arbitration as a condition of employment – essentially taking away workers’ right to a day in court against an unscrupulous employer. In a democracy, individuals should be able to hold wrongdoers accountable.
