WASHINGTON -- Today U.S. Representatives Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) unveiled a letter signed by 45 Members of Congress and delivered to the Department of State calling on the Trump Administration to stand up for women who are facing torture, forced separation from their children, arbitrary detention and more in Saudi Arabia. The letter comes as the Saudi-hosted "W20" women's summit began virtually in Riyadh.

In contrast, President Trump and the Republicans have consistently pushed a political agenda that fuels disinformation and their narrow, short-term political interests.

EVANSTON – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus Providers and Clinics Task Force, reacted to news that President Trump is receiving treatments for his COVID-19 infection that have been made possible with the use of fetal stem cells. Recently, Schakowsky was joined by Congressman Mark Pocan and U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin in leading a letter with 37 other House members and 4 Senators to the Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar demanding that the Administration withdraw its misguided and ideologically driven rule that bans the use of fetal tissue in medical research and stand behind proven science and scientific integrity.

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Representatives Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Don Beyer (VA-08), David Cicilline (RI-01), and Bill Pascrell, Jr. (NJ-09) led 122 of their colleagues in writing to President Trump and Secretary of State Pompeo rebuking their decision to set Fiscal Year 2021 refugee admissions at just 15,000, a further drop from the already historically low figure set by the Administration last year. The Members demand the Administration reverse its decision, consult with Congress as mandated by law, and increase the number to at least 110,000 to align with the United States' longstanding tradition of welcoming those in need of refuge.

Specifically, the Congresswoman expressed concern around recent reports of teenagers being hired and paid by right-wing groups to post and share information on the platform.
