EVANSTON - Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, highlighted the components of the Bipartisan Infrastructure bill she authored. The House passed the INVEST In America Act on Friday by a vote of 228-206, and it will now go the President's desk to be signed into law.

Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky was joined by her colleague Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi in introducing legislation that would prohibit airlines from involuntarily ‘bumping’ ticketed passengers from flights. The bill, titled the Bumping on Overbooked Airplanes Requires Dealing Fairly (BOARD Fairly) Act, would ensure that the unacceptable incident that occurred on United Airlines Flight 3411 never happens again.

I introduced legislation to help safeguard consumers online. For too long, online platforms have used surveillance advertising to capitalize on consumers’ private information. My bill removes the financial incentive for companies to exploit consumers' personal information.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), a Chief Deputy Whip and Ranking Member of the House Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee, introduced the Restrictions on Utilizing Realistic Electronic Artificial Language (R U REAL) Act. This bill requires disclosure of the use of AI to emulate human interaction in telemarketing over text or phone and would double penalties for any robocall violations of the Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR) when using AI to impersonate someone.
