“The President’s FY18 budget belongs in the recycle bin next to his Muslim Bans.
“It has been said that the definition of insanity is trying the same thing again and again expecting a different result” said Rep. Schakowsky. “President Trump’s Muslim Ban 2.0 is just as immoral, unconstitutional and dangerous to our national security as his first. So, naturally, it has been put on hold by a federal court, just like the President's first attempt to ban Muslims and refugees. I am glad that the hold was placed on this executive order, and am proud that Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan supported Hawaii’s case. I will continue to fight against this dangerous order until it is completely revoked.”

Citing new evidence that many profitable corporations evade paying any U.S. income taxes, Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) Thursday introduced a bill to eliminate tax breaks that encourage corporations to shift jobs and profits offshore. Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) introduced a companion bill in the House.
In addition to closing loopholes, the Corporate Tax Dodging Prevention Act would tax the $2.4 trillion that American corporations currently hold offshore at the full corporate tax rate of 35 percent.
