EVANSTON, IL – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Energy and Commerce Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee, led 45 of her colleagues in sending a letter to President Donald J. Trump to raise serious concerns about awarding exclusive licenses for the production of a potential coronavirus vaccine or treatment and allowing drug manufactures to monopolize drugs that have been funded by millions of taxpayer dollars.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip, voted in favor of H.J.Res.79 , which passed the House on a bipartisan vote of 232 to 183. The legislation would facilitate timely ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the U.S. Constitution by removing the arbitrary deadline to ratify the ERA. If passed by the Senate and signed into law by the President, this would pave the way forward for including women in the foundational document of our democracy.

Res. 826, a resolution expressing disapproval of the Trump Administration's harmful actions toward Medicaid. Last week, the Trump Administration unveiled its illegal Medicaid block grant plan, inviting states to cap and slash Medicaid. The plan would essentially allow states to receive a waiver to block grant their Medicaid programs for certain low-income Medicaid recipients.

"To Senate Republicans, shame on you. You ignored the facts and the dangerous actions of a president that attacked the very foundations of our democracy. The American people overwhelmingly wanted a full and fair trial with witnesses. Donald Trump is a threat to our national security and our constitution. He will be removed by the voters and hopefully you will too."
