WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ahead of major national elections in Honduras later this month, Members of Congress led by Oregon's U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley and U.S. Representatives Jan Schakowsky (D-IL-09), Joaquin Castro (D-TX-20), Chuy García (D-IL-04), and Hank Johnson (D-GA-04) are pushing the U.S. State Department to do more to ensure a free and fair elections in the Central American country.

The Congresswoman was joined by University of Illinois System President Tim Killeen, the CEO of the Chicago Public Schools Pedro Martinez, and 49th Ward Alderwoman Maria Hadden. Schakowsky is a graduate of the high school, and it is located in 9th Congressional District which she represents.

EVANSTON - Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, highlighted the components of the Bipartisan Infrastructure bill she authored. The House passed the INVEST In America Act on Friday by a vote of 228-206, and it will now go the President's desk to be signed into law.

The Integrity, Notification, and Fairness in Online Retail Marketplaces for Consumers (INFORM Consumers) Act directs online platforms that allow for third-party sellers of consumer products to verify the identity of high-volume third-party sellers, which will prevent organized retail crime.
