Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Chief Deputy Whip and member of the House Budget Committee, released the following statement after voting against the Republican Continuing Resolution to keep the federal government funded for three weeks:

“Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House, and are still somehow incapable of governing. I refuse to enable their recklessness.

WASHINGTON – On Monday, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), a Senior Chief Deputy Whip, and Chair of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee, voted for legislation to provide relief to families and small businesses struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic. The legislation passed also includes comprehensive funding language to keep the federal government in operation through the 2021 fiscal year.

WASHINGTON, DC- Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee, issued the following statement upon passage of H.R. 7608, a domestic priorities and international assistance appropriations bill:

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), a Chief Deputy Whip and Ranking Member of the House Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee, released the following statement after House passage of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, a package of six domestic funding bills focused on helping families and communities across the United States. The legislation will provide American families relief from the higher cost of living, combat climate change, and honor America’s commitments to its veterans and servicemembers. 

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Chief Deputy Whip and a subcommittee Chair of the Energy and Commerce Committee, voted today in favor of H.R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act. The legislation passed the House by a vote of 231-190. The bill takes the first steps in protecting our planet, by keeping the United States in the Paris Climate Agreement, demands real action from the Trump Administration on climate change, and lays the foundation for further, effective action by Congress.

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) joined a majority of her colleagues in the House of Representatives to pass legislation that invests in both American and global priorities. The Omnibus Appropriations bill, which includes key funding for projects in the 9th Congressional District of Illinois, was approved on March 9, 2022. The bill now awaits consideration by the U.S. Senate before heading to the President's desk.

WASHINGTON - Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a Senior Chief Deputy Whip and Chair of the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee, issued the following statement after House passage of H.R. 8294 – Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture, Rural Development, Energy and Water Development, Financial Services and General Government, Interior, Environment, Military Construction, and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, 2023 in a vote of 220-207.
